ABOUT QUEEN OF THE SQUARE CINEMA
Queen of the Square Cinema is a state-of-the-art screening venue installed inside Stratford’s historic City Hall Auditorium.
Our mission is to showcase the best in independent films and performing arts cinema as well as provide a home for special community screening events.
Stratford’s historic city hall, built between 1898 and 1900, is considered to be one of the finest examples of Queen Anne Revival architecture in Canada. Nicknamed the Queen of the Square soon after it opened, Stratford City Hall is now a National Historic Site.
A key feature of the building is the spectacular auditorium originally designed for community events, travelling entertainers and cultural activities.
We’ve adopted the name Queen of the Square Cinema to pay tribute to the building’s rich heritage.
